Wilgard Hübschmann was born in Regensburg into a musical family and started playing the piano at the age of five. For confirmation she received her much yearned-for guitar. Following three autodidactical years she met her first teacher, Wolfgang Gebert, who opened up the world of the classical guitar to her.

After Regensburg she went to study in Munich under Santiago Navascuez and then in Nuremberg under Zdenka Schulz. She trained as a breathing teacher and came into contact with the methods of humanistic philosophy as well as various meditation techniques. Her first compositions were created during this time.

Through the impressive master courses under Pepe Romero her love of Spanish and South American music deepened, which in the meantime have become an major part of her repertoire.
